The Safeguarding at Major Sporting Events Toolkit has been developed by Team Up, an Australian Government sport for development program, in response to growing demand for practical guidance on integrating safeguarding into major sporting events across the Pacific.

Informed by lessons from the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the Solomon Islands 2023 Pacific Games, and the Palau 2025 Pacific Mini Games, the toolkit draws on regional experience and extensive consultation with safeguarding champions, sporting bodies, and National Olympic Committees. It has been tested and refined through workshops and community of practice engagements to ensure it is practical, contextually relevant, and responsive to the Pacific context.
